Wellness Genetics

What are the differences between AGx Ideal Weight DNA, AGx Anti-Aging DNA, and AGx Nourish DNA?
AGx Ideal Weight DNA is very deep and focused on healthy weight loss using food, micronutrient and exercise recommendations, whereas AGx Anti-Aging DNA is a more broa general wellness and healthy aging program. AGx Nourish DNA provides an analysis of all micronutrient tendencies that have proven genetic linkages.
How does Advanced Genetic Solution’s genetic wellness testing work?
We use a noninvasive swab to collect cells from the mouth. The swab is easy to use and only takes about a minute to collect enough DNA for analysis. Once collected, the swab is mailed directly to our lab for analysis.
When will I get my genetic wellness test results?
Typical turnaround time for the entire process (swab kit shipping, DNA extraction and analysis, quality inspection, report generation) is approximately 10-20 business days. We will email you as soon as your report is ready.
What information will be included in my AGx Ideal Weight DNA genetic wellness test report?
Your AGx Ideal Weight DNA report will contain nutrition and exercise recommendations specific to your genetic test results (i.e., your DNA). The nutrition information will discuss in layman’s terms how much protein, carbohydrates and fat you should consume daily, as well as which micronutrients you may be at risk for being deficient in, and which foods are good sources of those micronutrients. You will learn how your body responds to fat, protein and carbohydrate intake in relation to how you’ll use them for energy, and thus, how best to eat in order to lose body fat. Your AGx Ideal Weight DNA report will also indicate what your likeliness is of using fat for energy during different types of exercise. It will give you specific information about exercises that are best aligned with your genetic test results: which types of exercise, at what intensity, for how long and how often.
What information will be included in my AGx Anti-Aging DNA genetic wellness test report?
Your AGx Anti-Aging DNA report will contain nutrition, exercise and lifestyle recommendations specific to your genetic test results (i.e., your DNA), and the recommendations are grouped into the categories of Look, Feel and Function. Look recommendations will include topics like skin glycation and facial aging, Feel recommendations will include areas such as sleep duration and addictive behaviors, and Function recommendations offer advice on issues like age-related hearing loss, mental acuity, as well as which micronutrients you may be at risk for being deficient in, and which foods are good sources of those micronutrients. In addition to the AGx Ideal Weight DNA or AGx Anti-Aging DNA report, you will also have access to genotype-specific content within our secure web portal. Hundreds of videos, recipes and articles are prioritized for you based on your genotype and available to you at any time.
How is my personal information protected?
To prevent unauthorized access to your information, our systems are run on HIPAA-compliant architecture, employing secure servers, firewalls and encrypted back-ups.
Who can view and use my account information?
You control access to your account information and test results. As long as you do not share your account password and username, no other individual will have access to your account or your results.
Will my insurance cover the cost of a genetic wellness test?
Probably not. Most insurance companies do not yet pay for genetic tests related to health management programs like Advanced Genetic Solution’s wellness genetic tests. We believe they will at some point in the future, so it might be worth checking with your insurance carrier. If your physician recommends you utilize a weight management program, you can use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for AGx Ideal Weight DNA.
Can my insurance company or employer request or independently obtain a copy of my results?
No. Your privacy is protected by the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), which was instituted in the United States in May 2008. As a result, you are also not required to disclose genetic information to an employer or insurer. In addition, Advanced Genetic Solutions will not respond to any request for test results from an insurer, employer or any other entity.
Can I cancel my genetic wellness test order?
Yes. Please see our (Link: Refund and Replacement policy.)

You may request a test for a drug group or class of drugs to also be tested at any time. Simply write the test code and test name on one of the blank lines provided in the test requested section.
What information MUST be on a specimen label so it will not be rejected?
To ensure that results are specific to a patient we require the patient’s full name and date of birth as minimum requirements for specimen labeling. Date and time of specimen collection are also required to ensure proper specimen integrity and record keeping. To help minimize rejections at the lab, please ensure that all specimens are properly labeled with all required patient information.
Why can’t the specimen be tested if the cup broke or leaked during transit?
Sample integrity is crucial to valid results and a broken transport cup could allow contamination of the specimen. A sample with compromised integrity may cause incorrect results and would not be valid for making sound medical decisions.
Do you store patient specimens for later testing/retesting if needed?
Yes. Specimens are retained for three months after testing is completed.

Clinical Testing – Billing and Privacy

What should I do if I need help paying my bill?
Patients who cannot afford to pay their bill or do not have insurance are encouraged to request financial assistance from Advanced Genetic Solutions before making any payment. Advanced Genetic Solutions will provide financial assistance to patients who meet certain financial criteria. You may also contact a Customer Service Representative at 800-767-7480, Mon – Fri: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (ET).
What is the difference between an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and a bill?
An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is a form or document that may be sent to you by your insurance company after you have had laboratory services (a urine drug monitoring test, for example) that were paid by the insurance company. You should get an EOB if you have private health insurance, a health plan from your employer, or Medicare. An EOB is not a bill. Your bill will come from Advanced Genetic Solutions (not from the insurance company) and will include all payments made by your insurance company, and any other discounts. Your bill will identify any balance you may owe. You must pay the balance to Advanced Genetic Solutions. Information about how to pay will be listed directly on the bill. In some cases, your insurance company may send you a check directly as payment for the laboratory services you received from Advanced Genetic Solutions. If you receive a check for these services, the check is provided for payment of Advanced Genetic Solutions services. Please promptly endorse the check and send it to Advanced Genetic Solutions as payment. The check should be mailed to the address below:

Our Customer Service staff will work with you to straighten this out. Please contact a Customer Service Representative at 800-767-7480, Mon – Fri: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (ET)
What if my insurance information has changed or it wasn’t correctly entered into the system?
Please contact a Customer Service Representative at 800-767-7480 and give them your correct insurance information as soon as possible. Incorrect or missing insurance information may cause you to be charged an incorrect bill amount.
